Not all battles will be fair for gladiators; this statement is particularly true for the andabata. The andabata was a blind-folded gladiator. This type of gladiator was already predetermined to die in the arena as a form of entertainment for the people, and this combat was not a true gladiatorial combat. Those who became an andabata were unfortunate criminals. As a result only andabatae would fight against each other to the death within the arena for the crowd's pleasure.
